Why the “New Year, New Me” mindset needs to start now

November

the eleventh month of the year, in the northern hemisphere usually considered the last month of autumn.

It’s cold, dark, loads going on and last for 30 days.

January

The first month of the year, in the northern hemisphere usually considered the second month of winter.

It’s cold, dark, loads going on and last for 31 days.

A Month

Apart from one having an extra day, there isn’t much difference between November and January. They both mark a period of time known commonly as “A month” in which there at 12 in any calendar year.

So why, suddenly does one hold a lot more significant when planning for the future.

Other than the turning of the calendar year representing a new start, there shouldn’t be any difference in the ability for you to make a change to your life.

So why wait another 2 months?

Imagine, 31st December 2017 and saying to yourself “I’m pretty happy right now” rather than “I need to change this, this and this – oh and I’m also going to go on a diet and start going to the gym”

The reality is a lot of people won’t stick to these statements, they properly feel like because it a new year they should perhaps “try” and tell a few people they are “trying”. It will get to February and before they know it’ll life will be back to normal, they would have failed.

Forming A Habit

So, why wait for 2 months, to begin?

November and December are months in the year in which a lot happens, social occasions, nights out and of course Christmas Food. You can eat your body weight in food very quickly and that holiday fat can slowly pile on.

On average, it takes more than 2 months before a new behavior becomes automatic — 66 days to be exact. And how long it takes a new habit to form can vary widely depending on the behavior, the person, and the circumstances. In Lally’s study, it took anywhere from 18 days to 254 days for people to form a new habit.

If you fall into the 18 days category, it will take until the end of November to have this habit nailed.

Why Does Exercise Make You Feel Better

Improves Quality of Life

Once you begin to exercise regularly, you will discover many more reasons why exercise is so important to improving the quality of your life. Exercise reduces stress, lifts moods, and helps you sleep better. It can keep you looking and feeling younger throughout your entire life.

Helps Prevent Diseases

Our bodies were meant to move — they actually crave exercise. Regular exercise is necessary for physical fitness and good health. It reduces the risk of heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and other diseases. It can improve your appearance and delay the aging process.

Controls Weight

Exercise is also a key to weight control because it burns calories. If you burn off more calories than you take in, you lose weight. It’s as simple as that.

I made the decision last year to start my exercise in November, I toyed with waiting til January to join the New Year, New Me craze, however, I motivated myself to get in the gym and start early. I even went to the gym on Christmas Day, this meant that when January came about I was well ahead mental for where I wanted to be.

This is definitely one of the reasons why I’ve had such a successful transformation over the last few months
